Falanghina del Sannio DOP Sparkling Brut 2017
Falanghina sparkling Brut DOP is produced with the Charmat method and matured on lees for ten months, to add complexity and balance to the wine. The producer is Cantina di Solopaca, located in the Sannio sub-region of Campania, North East of Naples, Italy.
Sannio is a hilly area, straddling the provinces of Benevento and Avellino and extends over the historical grape-growing region of Samnium, the land of the Samnites, pre-Roman inhabitants. Solopaca is amongst the oldest wine cooperatives in the area. Its vineyards are located in a vast area that, from the municipality of Solopaca, stretches to 16 neighbouring municipalities.
Falanghina del Sannio DOP Brut has brilliant clarity with fine and persistent perlage. On the nose it is intense and complex with fermentation aromas, ripe pear, hazelnut and bread crust. On the palate it is dry, fresh, mineral and long lingering . It can be enjoyed either as an aperitif and matches well with shellfish, charcuterie, pickled vegetables and crispy fried appetizers. It can also be enjoyed with fish, chicken, vegetarian dishes and risotto, and also pairs well with parmesan and similar hard cheeses. This wine shares close similarities with Champagne.
