Domaine Pierre Rougon – Côtes du Rhône 2018
Domain Pierre Rougon is located on the most beautiful terroir of the appellation and has been exploited for several generations by the Rougon family.
Monsieur Pierre Rougon, amongst other wines, makes this Côtes du Rhône of superior quality from a small production of just 5000 bottles using the classic blend of Syrah and Grenache. The Grenache brings soft summer fruit flavours, the Syrah full body, spices and with its high tannins gives the wine fabulous ageing potential.
The colour is intense ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose a scent of black currant, cherry, plum, mixed spices and pepper. On the palate it is smooth, mineral, well balanced and full bodied with a long finish.
This Rhône wine is ready to drink now at a temperature of 16°- 18°C. Because of its complex structure and intensity this great wine would improve immensely from ageing in bottle. I would recommend to store it in a cool dark place and start enjoying it from 2022 to 2029. Always decant for best results.
Pair it with roasted meats, steak, stews, gourmet beef burgers, game and cheese.
