Roero Arneis DOCG

For March 2019 I have chosen a Roero Arneis DOCG.

The Arneis white grape hails from the North Western Italian region of Piedmont where it is most famously associated with the white wines of Roero, an area that sits across the river Tanaro from the famous Barolo area.

Arneis produces very fragrant wines with delicate notes of acacia, pear, apple, tangerine and cedar. On the palate it is crisp and elegant with medium to full body and a minerality given by the Roero soil.

Given its soft acidity and texture, Arneis pairs well with lighter food flavours – fish, shellfish, chicken and dishes with sweet, spicy or buttery sauces.

This wine is best in its early years of life. Drink it young and appreciate its minerality, freshness and lively nature.
