Les Silices – Saumur Rouge 2016
Saumur is a commune in the Maine-et-Loire department in western France. The historic town is located between the Loire and the Thouet rivers and is surrounded by the vineyards of Saumur itself. The Region is known for its sparkling wines made by the traditional method, its red wines made primarily from Cabernet Franc and its white wines made from Chenin Blanc. “Les Silices” is 100% Cabernet Franc made in Stainless Steel vats.
The colour is ruby red with a nose of intense red berries and spices. On the palate it is dry and fresh, with red berries and ripe tannins. Serve at 13°-16°C paired with Roasted Pork, Beef Burgers or Stew, Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, Goat cheese, Camembert, cheese and spinach quiche.
